lol - seen that a lot - the pinion doesn't disengage and the armature spinning at 40,000 RPM flys to pieces...
That's insane, never saw anything like it. Looks like the pinion failed to retract from the ring gear for whatever reason and the engine too the startrt up to RPM the designer never dreamed of.
I once saw a starter from a plane on autobus. Driver said, he does not need to care of battery anymore: he starts it from 3 of 9V batteries in the glove compartment. It takes some time, though...
