One of my favorite sounding subs downfires, mj acoustics. Rel makes some great sounding subs that also downfire. But I only heard those ones with PR`s that fire at the front.

My 18" heavy passive radiators are mighty susceptible to "sag retention" just from sitting around awaiting the golden day of glory when the earth shakes. Forward firing it will be!
I agree. People want to see that cone dance about as well as feel it. The marketing people get the final say in commercial units.
They aren't often downfiring because people wouldn't see the driver then.
