Why not 6C41C used in OTL??

I cant remember ever seeing the 6C41C used in OTL--No doubt its been done, but not much written about it that Ive come across...

--Ive tried them myself here and there, and found them pretty good....

Always seems to be 6AS7 6080 6C19C EL509, 6C33C are the usual suspects🙂

Why not the 6C41C?

6C41C doesnt seem to suffer from the drift/thermal issues/Very long warm-up time to stable running associated with the 6C33C, has about the same power handling as a strapped 6AS7G, but without the feeble internal cathode-connection the 6AS7g has, and about the same heater power cons as the 6AS7, with just a little higher plate-current than strapped 6AS7.....
 
I think the simple answer is that there is not much advantage. The tube is more expensive as is the socket, which takes up more room. So if you want any power out of the amp, the real estate becomes an issue.

There *would* be less wiring though. And the tube looks cool. But otherwise you need just as many of them to make power as you do with 6AS7Gs.

The 7241 OTOH, now *thats* an interesting tube... 2 of them are good for 60 watts!

I think you would want to use the self-biasing technique you described in your Futterman thread recently. There will be 3 cathode resistors per tube rather than one. Only problem is this is a rare tube and not cheap. It should be preconditioned for at least 72 hours.
