Dinosaur here,
I know that they started doing this when flat screens came out and everyone
just uses their remote, but sometimes you do not want to find your remote
and just turn on your TV. IE just push where the light is!
Or to give you enough light to find your remote.
Just ranting.

My TV does not have a physical power switch, probably most others don't either.
No switch = cheaper mfr cost.

We just got a new Roku player whose remote works on our TV through the HDMI cable, so just one remote! And the remote plays a 'find me' tune if you press a button on the player.
All the flat screen TVs I have used have a power button on the side, which also allows you to change chanel and select input. Just picked a random LG OLED that is currently for sale and it's the same. Have you actually looked at the sides of your TV as you might have missed something.
You should have bought a smart TV! There, conundrum solved. E
I don't like TVs that are smarter than me.
Got a dish washer smarter than me...
Just got a new one, and it's a lot smarter than me.

I've had the same experience.
My Samsung has no buttons at all. If I can't find the remote I can't turn on, or off other than at the mains.

Sounds like something to check before purchasing my next TV.
Switching off at the mains is the answer - no standby power wastage, and more likely to survive if lightning strikes nearby 🙂 The UK standard mains sockets are all switched at the wall which is a great idea.

- Why isn't the power switch on TV's where the power light is?
