I don't know about iPhone tonal balance, but in the old analog phone days the output was not flat, but specifically contoured to enhance voice intelligibility.

I have the new iphone xr or something like this, and a calibration microphone, it is easy to measure but I think you might already find this on the Iternet.
My experience with phones ... Music comes always "airish". I mean there is always some kind of ambience / pink noise aura surrounding the music. You hear it in the first half second after clicking play when the mute transistors open... The same goes for earbuds, I've never liked them because of lack of bass.

I have a PLANTRONICS backbeat pro 2 and there are bass😀
I use it in BT with my smartphone🙄🙄
Sometimes maybe a little too much bass



I have also a HD650 with a WOO AUDIO WA6 ,less bass 😕😕
