seriously why are you building dacs and then feeding data to analogue amplifier and best of you have speaker and amplifier over 50 meters (and wondering thing that makes 0.00001% of your system performance). When someone says ab amplifier has lower distortion. well it's all about first amplifier that makes difference. when comparing analogue and digital amplifiers it's not the power amplifier that makes sound quality it's dac and pre amp in analogue domain. so why not keep signal digital to end. we have tons of digital effects put nobody ever bothered to make effect what sound like pulp amplifier. my
ques is that we have mp3. since our source gives us distortion we don't have generate it using something like pulp amplifier...(refering to lp we have to generate more distortiong somewhere -- who cares let's skip that)
Then we get to real question WHY there is no standart in recording studios. I mean if everybody record their releases studio that have (let's say flat requenzy response)

Wow, sorry. You lost me there. I don't understand the question(s) at all.
Maybe you are saying we should be building "digital" amps?

Your not alone mate.
I have no idea what the OP is about😕
But if I take the thread title " Why everybody in digtal line level is building dacs"
as a question, I would say that it can make a bloody huge improvement to the quality of CD playback 😱
and it saves us a **** load of cash too 😀

...because the only way to convert 1s and 0s into sonic waveform is via a DAC...?
There are digital amplifiers, class-D amps that take in and amplify digital input signals, but the output is still low-pass-filtered into something that resembles music and not noise, so now...?

My reason for wanting a DAC is not everyone's digital source has my kickbutt Yamaha DS-XG soundcard in it. So, I have to haul a DAC around to hear decent music out of digital storage media.
Cheers!

What a truly baffling question. The suggestion, confused as it is, seems to be that we should build DACs with power amp output stages, so that the signal amplified is exactly the signal produced.
Fair enough, but in reality, most people put their DAC next to, or on top of, their amp, with interconnects well less than a metre long. The flexibility of having a DAC and an amp far outweighs the possible sonic benefits of a "Power DAC" as such.

what the OP wants exists already for quite some time; Lyngdorf and B&O have systems that stay digital up to the power amps. Sounds quite amazing, especially when the room correction DSP is configured correctly. If you hear those systems one wonders why they are not that wide spread already. But in the end I have a Pass 30 amp and EL84 tubes. It is just more fun. It just looks more nice. Just like vinyl records 🙂
The B&O was a nice demo. It cost more than all of my cars put together ( or my first house) and was larger than my system is now. Much work needs to be done. Cost, user interface, and the bigest bug-a-boo, the ability to spool a DVD you already bought and paid for onto a bulk storage system without paying a second license. Grrrrr.
As far as power DACs or digital amps, I have a few based on the DDX chips. PCM in - PWM out. They sound great. Certainly the wave of the future.
But there is still the need for a good old DAC in most of our systems.
