Used one in an in-the-wall wireless system for my mom a few years ago, doesn’t sound half bad for what it is.
Had to wonder what you could do with it, maybe adding a buffer, or trying to ditch the charge pump and use a real power supply if that’s at all possible.

I added an AD8397 to the PCM5102a I had a few years ago. I used it with a pcm2706 USB receiver so it could plug into my phone, but actually I very rarely used it because with ear buds (Etymotic HF5) it was barely any better than the phone's DAC/AMP. That was not the fault of the DAC tho. And for phone stuff, the DACs have got tiny. Example:
