According to the documentation the cabinet has internal volume of 0.52 cubic feet which is around 14.7L which is what I used for the model above.
Doing the calculations using the dimensions of the box, and the provided wood thickness comes out at 15.3L which only leaves 0.6L for drivers and port displacement which seems a little low, but it would still probably be close to 14L, which is well within the range this driver can work in if tuned properly.

I do not arrive at 14.7L but 11.7 with your info

Based on 1.25" subtraction from each of the dimensions we get
7.375" X 13" X 9.75" = 0.54 cubic feet, = 15.29L
Dayton state 0.52 cubic feet, which I assume is allowing for the port volume, but I don't know the diameter of the port so that is a guess.

IMHO bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf very close to a rear wall often do sound muddy, whatever the trouble to make them measure right. Don‘t know if they are on that shelf, but since no one mentioned...
I have used both of these drivers with very good results but not together as a system. I haven't read the entire thread but here are some thoughts. Have you tried blocking the port? I did my woofers in a closed box and they sounded great; maybe your lower bass is giving you IM distortion and wrecking the mids??? Are you sure the woofers are wired so that they have the same polarity? If one woofer has the opposite polarity of the other; this would cause problems (lack of bass but also maybe canceling in the mids). I did a passive network on my woofer but I ended having to use a Zobel to get my X/O to work it's best. If you are active, that won't be an issue.
