This forum is great because of its members. Let's forget about all the rest.
They're of pretty much equal offensiveness, but "crap" is perceived as being foreign (no idea why - I mean, yeah, etymologically it's dutch, but I doubt most know that) and it's used rather less frequently.
In absolute terms, we're talking about "just barely offensive at all". When our prime minister used the term "s storm" on television, pretty much nobody noticed until the media leapt on it - and his approval rating went up.
Actually, not many words ARE offensive in Australian English - "bastard" isn't offensive at all here. Even the stronger swearwords have become pretty mild here - indeed, "the f word", used colloquially, is an all purpose noun, verb, pronoun, adverb and adjective which doesn't indicate much more than being too lazy to find a more specific word.

Which, in my view ikoflexer, makes you unsuitable to be a mod. That comment seems to demonstrate an even more overzealous approach that a countryman of yours takes, finding offense where none can be found (apart from the lunatic fringe).

No, but because he seems prepared to be overly censorious. A single mod can close a thread and his peer, SuperCal, has done that on a whim when it wasn't necessary. I don't object to personal opinions at all, except where they don't allow others their own and his 'personal' opinion is precipitiously close to that same shade of zeal.

I found no offense. Just thought this thread was a waste of energy, nothing more than useless, negative agitation. But yes, it's in the lounge, so the useless part is tolerable. BTW, I doubt you'll ever cross paths with a moderator if you treat other people with respect.
