Who´s benifitting from Class D mods?

After reading a lot about modifications of kits, modules etc, I now ask: who is really benefiting from the wast money and time consuming activities the "DIY society" is involved in?

When it comes to modules there is some different options by the seller.

A. Products are not sold to the public but only to manufacturers of Hi-fi gear. Some modules find there way to "us" because of "leakage".
Example: B&O´s ICE-power.

B. Products are sold to both us and manufacturers, but the items sold to us are more of a "garden variety" that most of us will improve by modding them.
Example; Hypex UCD.

C. Products being sold only to DIY´s (so far).
Example; HifiAkademie (Germany) New ClassD. I may be wrong here, but its more of a principal discussion so...

Now, what is this all about? Well I´ve heard and maybe you too that some manufacturers are making complaints about modules or kits being sold to us DIY´s . Let me question their view. Is selling something to a minority of customers a threat to their business? Is the knowledge of prices being paid a threat (for sure they get better prices than us)? Is knowledge of how to put pieces together challenging them?

I say, it´s quite the contrary ; that they are profiting on us, they get a lot of hints and thoughts about how to improve their products! 🙂 We normally don´t ask for royalties and our findings are often quite easy to check out....

There are here many more knowledged members than I am , and here are a lot of people who I have learned much from. At best we can see that there is a synergy between "ordinary" DIY´s and the professionals. There are of course examples of cooperation. There are in fact many examples of a dialog that is mutually beneficial.
But who´s complaining and why?
😉 :whazzat:

Disclaimer: I may have put this post in a somewhat controversial style but I am not that interested in proving my point of view. It´s more of a suggestion how to view things. You can look at reality in lots of ways but some may better describe reality.

Maybe some manufacturers are just envious? Or maybe they see a diminishing area for innovations patents and tweaks of their own? It´s also possible to see imaginary threats.

Bruno P said he had a rather hard time defending the decision to sell modules to ordinary people. Now that Hypex are introducing the UcDxxxHG versions I wonder of their sales are divided between professional users and us. Perhaps we are important after all?😎

And will there be contracts in the business that prevent more manufacturers from selling to us. Is competition strong enough?
Is access to the market easy enough? How fast is the growth of the market? Probably a very dynamic world!😉
And the future is a quite open affair...as it should be.
