Who is Lazy Cat and why is his amps so popular?

Wouldn't it be better to listen to one _before_ attempting to build it ?
That's a nice idea but how is the OP going to do that in the US? Practically, I think it has to be DIY first and just hope it is what you want - like any product with limited distribution.

Lazy cat reveals some of his background in the series of threads leading up to the latest. Why not read some of the early posts at the introduction of the designs, involvement with production models by member Sonnya and reports from European audiophile listening tests.

Not everyone can listen to one and sometimes you make the wrong choices.
That's the game of DIY audio

I agree!. I heard a lot commotion of one amp so I build it...I used very good parts and I let it play for a week before I judge...at the end I did not like it at all and I had to build another one. This is like choosing speakers, they can sound good to you but to me, they can sound bad.
I guess He can try and if He does not like it...He can try another one😱
I had so many good commercial amplifiers(Portal panache, Acurus, Bryston, etc), but I was never 100% happy with the sound, the last commercial amp that I had and was very good (The best of all commercial amps that I ever had), was a Bryston B60, I love the sound, but I was 90% satisfies with sound, I decide to build a diy amp and try if it will sound better than the Bryston B60..after many tries and five different amps topologies all class A/B and one class A...I found one amp kit that sounded better than my Bryston B60. at the end I sold the bryston and kept my diy amp. I still have it in my living room and it will stay there for a long time😀

PS: Any amplifier that can beat the sound quality of a Bryston B60....it is a keeper!!!
NOTE: I am talking about sound quality not Power!

to be honest, I bought 4 modules because of attractive price
I expect no other than they amplify a preamp signal, and not much more really

either way, I also expect they will do ok with active speaker
hysteria is nothing for me

I see three stages in the GB150. There is 1) an error amplifier/ voltage amplifier made from LTP, there is 2) a current amplifier / emitter follower buffer stage, there is 3) a power amplifier stage that multiplies both voltage and current.

The Nelson Pass F5 is a two stage amplifier. It is legendary for it's sound. But some peole have said they prefer other amps (usually other Pass amps).
