Hi pinkmouse
I usually use a 9 Volt battery with good results and the movement of the dome is easily seen.
The DC resistance of the tweeter is ~ 6 Ohms , 9 Volts across 6 Ohms give 1,5 Amp ( if the battery is fresh enough... ).
That will give a power dissipation of 9 X 1.5= 13,5 W , that the tweeter will take safely for briefs instants...
Just my experience...

Trust no-one.
Although the pink coloured mouse showed us a pic with the red dot on the small tab, it doesn't mean that positive battery on that pole will result in forward motion. Is it JBL or Eminence that has them backward? Where you place positive to the + and the cone moves backward?
I have only seen the small tab as the negative
