So far I have not noticed anything like that. I wonder if it still occurs with current production. I wonder what the most recent report of this it.Maybe because of the often occurring popcorn noise these exhibit. When I first noticed it I thought I had damaged them with static electricity.
What about suggesting OPA2228 as a recommendation?
It would be strange if you had noticed it in my devices 😀 Anyway if tantalum caps have a bad reputation even after literally decades of good tantalum caps then LM4562 will always be connected to the popcorn noise thingie. Never had it with its cousin LME49860.
The JRC 5532/34 are not so good?
A friend insists the TI versions sounds better. No opinion on it myself.
...some of the worst I've heard though may be ones that some people seem to love, Chord.
Interesting. Which models?
"Octopart dot com says that Quest has stock of the Signetics parts."
Yes they do, and THANKS for the tip!! However, at $4.20 a pop, I am beginning to wonder if I can hear the difference between those and a $1.75 LM4562.........

The LM4562 certainly MEASURES better. Does it SOUND better? I don't know. Both are excellent. I have some vintage audio gear that I would love to keep period-correct, but the price surely has sky-rocketed. I bought some Philips NE5532s for about $1.50 each only six months ago.
Sounds like you need some sort of EQ system to get the effect you want, opamps just all work the same, some are a bit noisier, some have higher distortion, but they don't do florid adjectives, just reproduce a signal to a high accuracy (if all is working well).I am looking for a smoother, lusher, organic more euphoric sound then, especially on vocals, and something not over etched digital with less glare then if thats possible
The emotion is in music, not the reproduction (assuming the reproduction is accurate enough). Room acoustics and speakers have way more effect than choice of opamps (unless you use a _really_ crap one). Just a simple treble/bass tone circuit can ameliorate a recording (or speaker) that's too toppy, or enhance missing midrange or bass or whatever.
A test of good reproduction is that horrid sounds sound as horrid as they should! Nails down a blackboard for instance - you don't want that to be lush and euphoric do you!?!!
[ The particular adjectives you use suggest "No Deeper Love (Irrisistible Force remix)" by Rising High Collective incidentally 🙂 ]
problem is we don't know how it is made in the linked device.
The opa1612 are sotamore than good for the job of i/v but we don't know what comes after on the socket... Is that a buffer, a filter, ??? Is it a fast oap oscillating on this big socket ? We just don't know !
If a buffer and about your taste needs, You can risk it and putt on this socket an opa2604 if the oap is a double channel...
You can also put your monney on a proven design of the DIgital Line section... cheap CHiFi dacs most of the time are more contributing to the CO2 waste and finish on a shelf and after a time are polluting the nature somewhere.
