Modded Metaxas Preamp
Hi Cookie Monster, sorry Fred,
I am amused too!
I did not bother to check values. For me it was enough that the second amp was "worked on"
For me polystyrenes don't taste good but the Wima MKS' either.
Being more clear I would install polypropylenes. Yeah that tasted good.......
Fred Dieckmann said:"Those tranparant caps look like polystyrenes. Depends on taste if like these or the Wima's."
What do they taste like? 😕
I am extremly amuse by all this. No body seems concerned that All The
Component Values Are different Including The Pot! It seems that some parts were not populated on one PCB that were on the other. What are you comparing?
One of these things is not like the other,
One of these things doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the other,
Before I finish this song?

While you are probably right about the pot, I've seen some examples (Clarostat, I think) of very accurately tracking and rather expensive mil-spec pots that don't look much different externally from some $5 specials.
Of course, if one were a real audio-snob one would turn up one's nose at pots in general (as comparred to big-buck steped attenuators) not to mention <gasp!> balance and tone controls.😱 😱
