I’m going to convert the 2-way to 3-way speakers. The 2-way consists of a 10” woofer and a 1” tweeter per cabinet. I’m reluctant to choose midrange drivers for my project. There are two choices for me:
A ) 1.5” dome drivers with ferrofluid cooling, 4-Ohms DCR
B) 2” dome drivers with air cooling, 6-Ohms DCR
The two choices are in the same series and receive the same technologies according to the descriptions.
The operating range for the midranges is estimated approximately 750Hz to 3.5kHz (with second-order slopes).
Assume all other properties are identical i.e. sensitivity, distortion, frequency response, and cost, which MF driver is more preferred, in your opinion?

Even 2" will be too small for a 10" woofer, for matching directivity and SPL at crossover frequency.
I suggest a 4-5.25" cone instead.

If it's between the two (I assume you have multiple projects going on at once?) then all other things, e.g. condition being equal, the 2in would be preferred from my POV for the reasons already described. You'll probably find it a struggle to achieve a perfect directivity match without power handling being an issue, but without knocking CD design ethos, there are plenty of decent enough designs around that compromise on this to some extent, either out of necessity or due to prioritising other matters, so while it's good if you can, if you can't, it isn't necessarily a deal breaker.
Quad of TC9 will be great in MEH for home setup considering their frugal power handling of 20odd watts.TC9 while it lasts (CAD19 at Solen.ca)

Approximately 750 to 3,500 HzWhere will you cross. I guess 1kHz might be acceptable...
