I'm in the same boat, as I've got a 5.7" Sharp LCD. I found one 7" lens on the magnifiers page of Surplus Shed. (scroll all the way to the bottom). The LCD's we're using are just big enough to be larger than most optics, but small enough that I'd like to avoid Fresnels. Your best bet might be Fresnel lenses, and you can get those just about anywhere. One of the cheapest places I've found is 3d lens . They've got good prices and a decent selection of Fresnel lenses, although I haven't found any location to buy higher-power Fresnel lenses other than that one rip-off guy from E-bay who claims to be the only person with 6x Fresnel lenses (so far I'm believing him... I can't find any large fresnels above 3x). If anyone knows where to buy higher-power fresnels, please let me know. 🙂 He charges $20, and I don't feel like paying him. 🙂 Frankly he annoys me. 🙂
As for what kind of projection lens to use, I'm still wondering what I'm going to do. Does anyone know what I (we) can do? The only two options I can think of are to:
A. Build my own projection lens setup (but not sure what a projection lens exactly does yet)
B. Shring my image down with a CVX then CVV lenses and then pipe the smaller image into a projection lens.
Other than that, that's all the further I've gotten. 🙂 Keep up the good work!
