I've been reading posts here nonstop for about a week and I think I'm ready to try building a projector. I watch ALOT of movies so I think I want a fairly good picture, not just a PSone screen. So my question is what LCD monitor to get? I'm hoping to stay under $150 if possible. I have a 15" computer monitor right now but I don't want such a large projector. So 7" would be ideal. It seems there is a $180 Innovatek LCD that everyone uses, but is there anything slightly cheaper without having a poor quality picture? Thanks.
15" LCD monitor: 1024 x 768, 12"x 9"
on an OHP with 10"x10" stage you get ~853x682 (minus some pixels on the corners, 1"x1" triangle )
7" LCD: 800x480
people uses 7" LCD for its small size thus to make small projectors. If you are goint to use an OHP, it may be better to use 15" LCD with Powerstrip, especially when you want to save money.

Ok that makes perfect sense. I'm definitely going with a 7". Got a model number for the lilliput and some screen shots of it?
Others have posted the Innovatek IN-007VG is a direct clone/repackaging of the Lilliput with the same LCD. The Innovatek is just under $180 shipped from mp3playerstore if you click the 7% off coupon on their main page. The cheapest I've seen the Lilliput is $233 shipped.
Ok, well thats the backup plan since I'm not quite sure I want to spend that much on my first try. Is the next step down just not worth doing? I'd rather spend an extra $80 if it will really make a large difference.
According to the guys in this thread it is a direct clone with the same internals as the Lilliput (specifically this post ).
