I have a pair of Fostex FE206E and plan to start building a pair
of cabinets soon.
I am thinking of going with insert nuts for the drivers to make it easy
to remove them if required.
I read a few bad experiences with t-nuts, and
they say threaded inserts are better.
Can some one point me to the right size (or spec) of inserts I would need?
What about using inserts to bolt on one of the sides, so it is
easy to open the box to tweak with damping etc?
Or would that be a recipe for a leaky box? I can use some kind
of rubber gasket, or maybe caulk to seal it from outside to make it
airtight.

I use knife-edge threaded inserts. Try these:
Or these:
For Fostex FE series, I use 10-24 thread size. For appearance sake, I use black-oxide Allen-head caps screws. 10-24x3/4".
