I am comparing two different room correction products; one uses Motorola DSP's which gives 48 bit FIXED point processing, the other, SHARC DSP's which provide 32-bit FLOATING point processing. Any pros/cons? Is one better than the other? Like to hear opinions. Thanks.
The results would totally depend on how creative the programmers are with the implementation. The MOT chips have more bits but the AD shark should not have to worry about overflow as much since they are floating point. But it really depends on how good they (programmers) are at using them and don't forget about the speed. That is a lot of math to do. The analog section is critical too and could negate all the above if overlooked. I highly recommend a test drive.
