I am familiar with inkscape, and maybe I might have used another CAD program before, which may be why I'm having a tough time with Sketchup. Navigating is SO frustrating, having to click orbit, hand, zoom, etc. I should be able to orbit and zoom just by using mouse and spacebar. The mouse wheel for zoom becomes unresponsive when you get close in.
Measuring is a real chore.
Not to self for future - draw every shape in 2D and double-triple check it's right first - BEFORE extruding (push/pull).
Use groups early, and often.
All the griping aside though, I think I have the basics, and the box is almost done. I'll start another thread for a critique of my design soon.
