Hello to all,
after some research it seems to me that many producers/companies have left the production of CD/DVD traverse mechanisms and lasers:
-Philips gave up Daisy-Laser about 3 years ago and sold the consumer electronics division to Gibson - no CD Pro2 any more
-Sony (at least) gave up the production of the widespread KHM-313 mech.
- Sanyo produced reliable mechs like the DV11 or DV34 - but was bought
by Panasonic. Sanyo mechs are also wide spread, i.e TEAC uses them, he Shigaclones are also Sanyo mechanisms.
No hint on Panasonic or Sonys webpages that their mechs can be bought for OEM.
So who is still there? I know Ebay /Google / Alibaba show up many suppliers and traders for the mechanisms mentioned
above. But this looks to me that these are counterfeits.
Anyone with some insight?
All the best,
Salar

Sony, Sanyo, Hitachi, Panasonic are some of the current manufacturers of laser assemblies. Not to mention the companies manufacturing similar items in China.
Wrong.
Only Sanyo is left, but there is no confirmation that they are still
producing after they were aquired by Panasonic.
