Dear Guido: I am consistent in my decision, however i removed the post again (after 2 minutes and 30 seconds) on Christers recommendation, because of course i did not want to offend anybody. But if you want to take me up on my offer, it stands anytime.

Now you have seen it, i will also encourage Christer to remove it from his post, most important it is that you have seen it.

Also i don't see how the above message can be any sort of advertising for anything. Can you explain?

Lars,

You highly offended me because you insenuate that my modules can be manufactured cheap, suggesting low (material) quality.

This offense does not depend on doing it in public or private

Wrt advertising: More than once, members (Jocko for instance) have pointed out what I refer to, I feel no need to explain that again.

My initial point, and that of more members has to do with the balance of commercial versus real input (knowledge).

Since I do not see your substantial input from the knowledge side, I still wonder what you are doing here, other then lurking around. If my perception is wrong, I'd be intersted to know the reason why you are on this forum.

Relax, guys...

-but sorry, Guido, your clock (even as good as it is), does not look like rocket science...cheap philips-caps, single-sided, and scraped off parts...
(I'm happy with mine, I'm also happy with my KWAK-clock, and LC-Audio-cl.).

fedde: The XO2, does not include the SP/DIF transformer.

The picture shown is XO3 which includes SPDIF reclocking (hence has a transformer)

The price went up to 129 euro (5 years warrantee) for the latest version with improved low noise supply, new layout and double sided PCB.

No compare that function and performance with that of commercially available clock of trichord, LC audio and audiocom, to mention a few.

I'd be interested in your results

Guido: I am not suggesting you have a low material quality.

I am merely suggesting that anyone can add the cost of:

4 100uF Philips + 1 470uF Philips + 1 78xx + 1 Bourns trimmer + 2 Ferrite Beads + 1 1N5817 + 10 SFR25 resistors + 1 TL431A + a single layer board. (Not the same version shown above).

The Crystal Can taken out of the calculation.

Lars,

Your assumptions on the parts are wrong. Besides what you call the crystal is not a crystal, everyone knows that, and I sell that to the real DIY crew for 27 euro to "roll their own"

Besides that, everyone knows that more cost are involved before ending up in a retail price, so what is the point you are trying to make ? And why did you come up with the mail offering me my XO2 (including power supply) for 12 euro ?

it's cheap Lars, very cheap

Guido and Lars,

This forum is for the DIY members to share ideas. You are more then welcome in the sharing of ideas with the other non-commercial members, in fact we encourage it and are greatful for your technical inputs. However, the last 3 pages has been mostly you two bickering about your products with very very little constructive input.

It Must Stop Here. Please consider this an official warning:cop:

Den of theives

Gee....... This seems like the same kind of thing I have complained about at least 20 times.

WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE EXPLOITING THE DYI FORUM FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES AND NO SEGREGATION OF FORUMS FOR COMMERCIAL AND ACTUAL DIY MEMBERS...YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE!

Lars rolled into this forum under warnings about this and guess what? Here we go again! Why should I take advice from someone who is trying to sell me something? Why should anyone offer advice knowing someone is waiting to use it to make money. Of course when even one of the moderators has a conflict of interest in this issue, I guess nothing is going to be done about it. There are several people who manage to sell some stuff on the side and still have the integrity and smarts to keep it seperate. And then we have the repeat offenders who do it over and over again enraging many of the members with no visable restraint from the moderators in many instances that call for it.

I have found a lot good information on the forum and hopfully even given some. I have been praised, thanked, sworn at, and even banned; but I am still here. There are only two things that make me think about leaving and that is this rapidly growing trend for people trying to sell us something without admitting they are doing it, and the ever growing liklelyhood that the advice I offer is being used to develop products that someone is going to turn around and try to sell to members of the forum. Has it ever occured to anyone that if that was my intent that I would be the one selling the stuff.
Anybody see me trying to sell anything?

We might even make you a Special Mod, dealing with those issues only, as it seems to be your favourite passtime these days.

Personally I don't mind at all people talking about their products. They will never sell them to you, against your will, and getting to know those people more, gives me a better idea if the product is for me or not.

As I said before, some of us are actually building something, so our approach might be different than yours. Try to be more tolerant, it never hurt anybody.

Although, this particular dispute can be clearly falted on Lars http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=280904#post280904

I'm sick and.............

Gentlemen,

Before I tell you all to STOP argueing about which clock is better or my clock looks better than yours, I have to say this.

I bought the TENT XO clock 😉 and I have to say, It looks tremendus. Nice clean and well build!

I don't know how it sounds yet, cause I'm ill (fever etc.etc.) so I didn't instal the XO in my player yet. But as soon as it is installed, you'll hear from me. I don't work for Guido nor am shearholder of his company, but his product is well made and is not singlesided.

I think that the two best clocks available for the $$$ are the Kwak Clock-7 and the Tent clock due to the results and the price!
The KC-7 is a real DIY clock and the Tent XO is realy easy.

Which one is better,........................?

It's like saying which ICECREAM is the best
Ben & jerry's or Baskin Robbins. I prefer Baskin, but Ben & Jerry's is also great. The problem with B&J's is , that they use to much chocolate and B&R's does have Pralines and Cream! My favorite!

Am I clear? Do I need to say more? I hope not!

All the best and please STOP the personal attack guys!

Best regards,

Audiofanatic 😉

Hi Fred,

most interesting post for several pages, but because of the art. Have worn my Google fingers down to the bone. Reference please for the painting?

Thanks,

James

I second the request. I have also wondered and now spent
some time with my various art history books, to see if I can
get a clue. It just puzzles me more. The painting seem to me
somewhat contradictory and hard to place. Contentwise it
seems both italian and flemish to me, which doesn't fit in with
any of the well-known painters. Maybe one of those somewhat
lesser know flemish painters that spent some years in Italy?
I won't use all of the Sunday to reread Vasari, though, to find
out who they were. It beats me, but maybe it is just an atypical
painting from some late-renaissance/manierist/early baroque
italian painter? You see, I cannot even place it in time without
some jítter.

Oh well, I'll make a guess, although it doesn't quite fit in either:
Tintoretto.

Fred, time to tell us.

The heated discussion in general only shows a heartfelt interest in the subjects. And firm belief in our ideas - on all parties.
But still inspite difference of opinions, it's great to see that everybody still find it interesting to participate in the discussions, if not, i think they would simply stay away.

So after all it's not so bad, and i think no one takes (or should take) a discussion here personal anyway, but (mostly) an exchange of opinions on (mostly) audio related stuff.

And after all i think that is the entire purpose of a forum like diyaudio.com isn't it?

As it is i think it's fun enough that i would spend a couple of hours of my weekend browsing diyaudio.com 🙂

Nice sunday to everybody !
