My point is there are many unknown semiconductor manufacturer around the globe.

ST is a giant, well known brand & i have seen IMP logo if i can recall.

May not be exactly the same. Tolerances, tempco’s can vary depending on who makes it. General specs for a 7915 are pretty loose, and it should function as a -15V, 1 to 1.5A regulator. Many cases, like powering op amps, you just don’t need anything “better”. If you do, get something you know well.

So how critical is the application? I actually prefer using B-stock, surplus, and seconds in non critical places. So stuff I paid full price for doesn’t get used up where “anything will do”.
