May not be exactly the same. Tolerances, tempco’s can vary depending on who makes it. General specs for a 7915 are pretty loose, and it should function as a -15V, 1 to 1.5A regulator. Many cases, like powering op amps, you just don’t need anything “better”. If you do, get something you know well.
