With more reading, I believe I have converged on an AMT, the Beyma TPL-200/H (or perhaps 150/H) to cover from 1,000 - 2,000 Hz and up. The drivers are rated at 102 dB SPL at 1W/1M, respectively, with nominal impedances of 8 ohms and DC resistances of 4.9 ohms.
What amp would best complement the driver? It will be mated, with an active xover, to a high efficiency 10"-12" bass/low-mid (TBD). The latter will cover between the Beyma and an active 18".
Nelson wrote that one of the beauties of active systems is the ability to match driver with amp, so...
Which amp for the Beyma?
Which amp for the bass/low-mid?
I have Toshiba JFETS and Sony SITs.
I need amps that have clear design briefs - I am not an amp designer by any means.
TIA.

I have 2 matched 2SJ28 2SK82 pairs (KE 33) and 4 (unmatched, I believe) 2SK82 (KD 33).it depends how many SITs you have ..... and are they matched
I'll post a wanted ad...
Assuming I can't get PCBs, what amp would people suggest for the highs?

There is a design coming up this year that will make 1 single-ended channel
out of each of those parts. That would be 8 channels at about 10 watts
Or you can use the matched pairs to build DIY VFET and 4 channels single-ended.
This sounds most excellent - thanks, Nelson! There is a design coming up this year that will make 1 single-ended channel
