Tried it? I have not. Maybe I should 🙂so lovely
Yes, I came to think of the Lowther in question had a pretty benign impedance curve, and so will work with many varieties within the FW range. Especially if they are void of bass duties, in which case damping factor becomes far less relevant.

I have not tried the Lowther PM6A.
I’ve wanted to try it for a while because NP has mentioned it (with 16 Ohm underhung silver voice coil) in many threads.
I haven’t come across any used pairs of that version and am not willing to pay full price for a new pair.
I have tried Lowther DX3, Fostex 206E, Tang Band W8-1808, Lii Audio Crystal 10 and now a pair of Sonido SWR250 field coils.
They’ve been used in either my Oris 200 front horns, open baffle or both.
All of them have been used with my DCB1 preamp which has a pair of Jensen transformers on the output for about 6dB of gain in conjunction with a B5 crossover and bass support.
My standard bass support for a while has been a pair of Hypex FA502 driving Acoustic Elegance Dipole 15.
The widebands have been driven with a gainclone, a pair of ACA(with Semisouth down), my Quicksilver Horn Monos, my pair of F2J monoblocks, a round 1 SONY VFET and now my Babelfished J2 amps.
The one I return to repeatedly and that has impressed me over and again with all these drivers and combinations has been the F2J.

I’ve not used pm6a’s, so can’t speak directly. For both pm2 and dx4, Sit-2 is a keeper!I read Nelson’s 2004 article on current source amps, but both the speakers and the amps have changed since then. What is the short list of First Watt amps for these speakers? I am open to commercial First Watt amps.
I am going to try an SLOB, still figuring out the bass unit, with a PAP. I have some 21” B&C drivers, but they might be a bit garish and have too much moving mass, for this project.
