Where to get LM4780 Thermal Pads?

going live

Well, given the inability of me to get an insulating sheet, I've gone ahead and isolated the heat sinks which are sitting at -35 VDC, chips mounted with the Arctic Silver compound which I think we have confirmed is electrically conducting under the high pressure from the clamps holding the chips down here.

Endzedone, want to cut me a piece good for about 10-12 chips?

I'll post a new thread with more pics later, but here is a preview of Sparky, a parallel LM4780 chipamp in a very small Sun SPARC IPC chassis. Reference Link.

This is not supposed to be the ultimate amp or anything, I just had a case available and wanted to put your basic chipamp into it, using as many of the original parts as I could. You see a lot of original connectors on the back panel and some kind of light guide for the front panel led, original cage for the 2nd power supply that I cut down to form the airflow path. I added the internals including 10x 15,000 uF caps, using a snubberized PS and 330VA xfo.

There is a separate XFO and Power Supply under the cage that provides 12V adjustable via the back panel switch and POT to the fan so one can slow it down if one chooses. A bistable switch fastened to the live heat sinks turns on a red LED (standing up but hard to see at 1st) if the heat sink temp goes over 45C. Hope the fact that the sinks are live -35 VDC does not affect this switch as I assume the switch contacts are isolated from the case but the data sheet does not specify (a DMM indicates open circ here).

Turns out the case has an internal highly conductive coating.

The floppy drive opening will be the fan air intake and the red LED will be visible from the front inside there should it get toasty.

All working so far after changing PCBs. Figured its easier to put the passive components onto another PCB than try to remount a chip on the vaporized traces of the old pcb.

Nice

Thats very nice. I like the heatsink as well and with the fan..............sweet as 😀

I haven't even looked at my amp since it smoked a big one.
My free chips arrived today, 😀

I have been busy trying to finish some little speakers that have been sitting in my garage for nearly a year collecting dust.

Once the other is complete it's back to the amp
