I ordered a mirror and despite of the very good packaging it
arrived broke.I sended an e-mail to that company and they
sended me immediatly a new one with no charges.(I live in Belgium working on a hami projector *** well.

yeah, the packaging was very good, came in a massive box. Luckly my mirror wasnt damaged but the box had a few large dent/rips on one side of the box. There was so much packaging inside though that everything was ok.

i've noticed side mirrors from cars work quite well. Has anyone else tried using this??. Anyways, let us know if you guys are interested in making FSM just for the fun as I've got a document/E book on how to make FSM.

Aha, I hadn't seen this anywhere, but I did replace the side mirror on my car not too long ago, and noticed that it was a front-surface mirror. Total cost for the glass: $8. I was thinking about going to the auto parts shop and asking for any side mirror they had in stock that was large and mostly square. My car's mirror has too odd a shape to use without cutting, but I'd imagine some side mirrors for trucks have a more square shape.

Anyone know if the car mirrors produce a good image? Do they pass through or absorb much light?

I went to an AutoZone (car parts shop in the U.S.) and they had several sizes of mirrors available out on the shelves. I chose a front-surface truck mirror, about 6x8". Cost about $6.

Results: the image is actually pretty good, but as I suspected, the mirror coating is not completely opaque. The mirror acts like a really bad beamsplitter, if I had to guess, maybe 90% reflection/10% passthrough. It's definitely usable, but a better mirror will probably help improve brightness.
