where to buy tri-wire binding posts or links

hi,

Im after some tri-wire binding posts with the SOLID links included but can't find any anywhere in the whole universe.

I'd settle for mounting 6 binding posts onto each cabinet if only I could find solid gold plated links either flat or round to connect them together. I'm not keen on making up cable jumpers but will if I can't find anything suitable.

Later I will run 3 lots of cable but for now I'd like some nice links or triple posts with links.

Your help is always appreciated ;-)

My first reaction is why on earth are you doing this? Do you hear repeatable differences or have you fallen for the cable salesman's whole game to sell more wire? Anyway, wire jumpers are just fine. Fancy jumpers are just sales bling. For what all this would cost, you could afford better crossover parts or better drivers. Another way to look at is is you will have more mechanical contacts to oxidize and cause issues. One set of binding posts and everything soldered together will do better in the long run.

Harsh comment I know. Back up. Draw a picture of everything from the amp output stage to the voice coil. Start with the .22 Ohm wire resistors on the outputs. You will see that things like the jumpers are just not relevant. Spend the money where it makes a difference, drivers and crossover or in cabinet finish, as that is what you look at.

no, not harsh words at all matey, seemingly wise words. Thanx for your perspective, I hear what your saying: put the money where it matters most. Problem is, I have little idea where it matters most and don't have the money to perform tests to determine where it matters most although i think what your saying is a very fair bet. I mean, drivers and/or x-o components have to be more important than triple speaker cables, i can see that. If you buy a pair of speakers from a shop with tri-wire terminals, I think it's worth trying a triple run of cables on demo or if money permits, but for the DIYer, who has control over component selection your point is worth noting. I'll mount a bi-wire terminal just so the speakers don't look too out of place and suffer "terminal envy".

I've read much about hifi over the years but it all strikes me as somewhat (but not entirely) unreliable. Admittedly, my actually experience is limited compared to "pro" reviewers who are familiar with all sorts of equipment but I'm a sceptic by nature and by default, reject silly money equipment as a rip-off. I have to say though, I did hear an audio note valve amp (I'm sure it was an ongaku) at bristol in 1994 and it was a wholly, holy, sublime experience. Damn, have I just contradicted myself? Maybe, but it begs the question: which part of a system does it actually matter most to put time, effort and money into? Which part of a system gives best value? An eternal question I guess, like choosing a wife or a car or social network in which to invest.

I reckon because hifi aint as important as the large hadron collider or cancer research or low child morality - and nor should it be - and because it remains the concern of tinkerers and neurotics it will never make the breakthroughs enjoyed by other engineering based endeavours that bring more to ordinary folk like all of us. The benefits to mankind are just too small verses cost. Most affordable music systems sound ok to most people and rightly so because they do sound ok.

Hi fi is niche, it's a luxury and an indulgent pastime that exists outside of the scientific establishment. High fidelity sound just aint that important. E.g. it's no where near up there with car performance and who's shirt you're wearing. Commercially important yeah but no where near the top of the list of challenges facing our species; hence the lack of real divergence.

I wonder if I have fallen for silly audiophile nonsense. No doubt. It promises the explorer reward for his efforts but always seems to be elusive enough to keep him coming back for more. Hi fi is indeed a strange universe, full of mystery and dark matters and a little science just to maitain a bit more credibility than homoeopathy or tarot. Ok, not quite a fair comparison but it's now gone 4am and the brandy doses are starting to wear off ;-)
