I just burned out my first bulb yesterday. I estimate that I only used it for no more than 4 hours a week for about 7 weeks = 28 hours (no more than that).
Is that a typical life for a FXL 82V 410 W bulb? I wonder if I got a previously used bulb when I bought it off ebay.
Can anyone recommend a good site where I can order some new bulbs? Someplace that I can be sure is sending me a NEW bulb and with low prices.

If those are the same bulbs used in the 3M OHPs (9xxx line), then I recommend you buy them from http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10298059&loc=101
That's the cheapest place I've found and the price hasn't changed since November.
As for lamp life, I guess mine is odd. I've been using my setup for quite some time now and one bulb just burned out this morning. I'd say I got a good 50 hours out of it, maybe more. In the manual for the OHP, I read that the average lamp life was between 25 and 50 hours.
I'm happy with the quality produced by these lamps, but I'm sure that I want to go to a metal halide lamp. Has anyone modified a 3M 9700? I want to sell my Sharp 1650 and throw on a high resolution 14inch lcd monitor.
