That would depend greatly on the application... from no one at all to the size of a computer-cpu cooler...
UK, I dunno. Only place I've found the DN2535/40 is at Supertex, the manufacturer. I get the IXCP10M45S from Digi-Key in the US. It's a pretty common part, DK couldn't keep them in stock for awhile.
I use them way at the bottom of the spec, ~70V / 10mA, so 0.7 watts. When I started, I put the cheapest slide-on TO220 heatsink DK had on them. Adjusting after several hours of operation, the sink was no warmer than my hand, so I don't use them any more. If you're gonna use the part at higher dissipation, you might want to put a heatsink on it. All this information is available on the specsheet, which is available all over teh interwebs. Just Google 'IXYS IXCP10M45S datasheet'.

Hi,
Mouser do the DB2540 at www.mouser.co.uk but you may get stung for shipping etc if you order less than 100 GBP.
Another option for the DN2540 that may work out cheaper is to get a current source kit or a cascode current source kit ($8 and $12 respectively) at K & K Audio - Lundahl Transformers, audio DIY kits and more . They have 1 and 2 DN2540s in respectively. I have bought from them before and the shipping is reasonable and pretty quick.
www.diyhifysupply.com have a CCS kit with the IXYS 10M45S, but it is pricey compared to the k and k CCS at $19 each!
Hope that helps a little.

Actually make that Mouser Electronics - Electronic Component Distributor (the .co.uk goes nowhere) but they detect that you are coming in from a UK IP address and show the GB version of the site.
It looks like we have a sole supplier contract problem here in the uk, were they only want to sell to large scale users.
Although on the bright side I now know that I can get them from kits or from the US.
thanks everyone.

Digikey distributes in the UK (according to their UK Website). They have the 10M45 at approx GBP 1.50.
