Where should I get Wima MKP2 and FKP3 caps? (or alternatives)

Hey all,

I’ve decided to replace the output capacitors in my 41hz Amp4 kit with Wima Polypropylene ones, specifically MKP2 and FKP3 types (small size, RM5 and RM7.5), with values ranging from 0.1uf to 0.22uf.

However, I’ve checked some of my usual suppliers, but they either don’t stock these, or are sold out. 🙁

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for these?

Of course, I’d be very interested in knowing any as-good or better alternatives. 😉

Thanks,
Peter.

Hi

LCR polypropylene capacitors from Maplin are the best and most cost effective I have found. They are available in values up to 10uf at good prices. You can spend much more but I doubt that you will find better caps than LCR.

Hello,

the Wima FKP3 are one of the sonically best available.
Search google for them, they are still made.

Years ago I ordered several at buerklin (sold out), but ar still
available at some others.

They sound better than a simple MKP because of their heavy
construction with solid metal foils.

I use them in the RIAA-section as filtering caps

@ Nordic: thank you !!

@ askok: FKP & KPs sound (& measure) better than MKPs

one difference: MKPs have only metalised foils, KPs have solid
metal (most aluminium) film/foil construction.
Some audiophile types use zink or copper, but these are much
are expensive and larger as well.
