where is the output capacitor of both zune and ipod? In the device, or in the headphone jack? I know, it's a dumb question, i'm just avoid placing the output capacitor in series with my tube amp's input capacitor.
There is no output coupling cap in the ipod/zune.
You don't really need an input cap on your tube amp.

Unless you are sure any source you use cannot output any DC then an input cap in your tube amp would be helpful. Don't be frightened of capacitors; they don't bite! (Well, actually, they can bite but only if you stick your finger in their mouth just after they have been fed.)
Yes, well, as we know capacitors have nasty properties wrt signal integrity. Unfortunately one can't do without 'm. If no spectrum analyser is present one must trust ones ears for judging how offending they are. Not?
There are differing views on the effects of capacitors on low level signal integrity but here we are talking about the ouput from an Ipod........Yes, well, as we know capacitors have nasty properties wrt signal integrity.
