Where does the name "Gainclone" come from? I have had it told for me but I've forgotten.
Is Gainclone allways = LM3875?

It's nifty name, but let me guess where it came from. Cloning is a type of duplication, so the gainclone amp is duplicating amps with same gain. Then these amps are run in parallel configuration.😉 I see no reason why other chips cannot be used to do a smilar thing.
Now I remember. This was what made Rod Elliott so mad. 1250 dollars for two LM3875 😱Brett said:It's a clone of the Gaincard.

I don't normally agree with Rod, but in this case I do.
After hearing all the hype about these chip amps, I ordered a few today to try. We shall see......
Yes, me too ( 5 pcs.) but when you buy an amp consisting of 2 chips for 2 dollars a piece I think the price is rather high. A 1250 dollars amp must offer more I think, at least a cooler case.audioPT said:1250 dollars for two LM3875 ?
I've 4 at no cost 😉
Samples!

Well, I don't 😉
Regarding the cost: I think that you pay for the result, not the components. And it will cost a lot to get a product in the market place. Besides, the amps are handmade (in Japan, expensive country) and in low quantities. Ok, if Sony would make this amp for this price it would be expensive...
Also with the technical comments I mostly do not agree. I believe vibration has an influence on the sound of audio component (and I did some experiments to check this). In my opinion, it's important that the correlation between impulses in the music at different times is as low as possible. If resonances can be released quickly, this will lower the correlation.
And yes, single drivers sound better 🙂

Does anybody have a picture of the inside of the amp?
Yep, they have been posted before on DIYaudio and audio asylum. I forgot where, some search will help I guess...

No
The pictures are suppose to be inside the Gaincard. Not my amps.
These are mine.
