I have collected over the years a Pass X350.5 and the XA100.5. The meters have failed on all three amps. I followed instructions from the staff at Pass labs and was able to get them working again. Now they are stuck in place and frozen. I don't want to lift these things again so I would like to purchase new ones and then re-insall. It seems quite easy. Has anyone done this. I will not ship these amps across country due to the cost and I love the sound. My friends are beating me up about letting these stylish amps become car wrecks!
If I new the manufacturer of them maybe I could get some. I was told that the factory is out of stock. Maybe I could use the 100.8 meters? Hope you guys can help-dave

ask Papa and boyz for one thing - which current range meters are (uA,mA)
or - measure voltage across coil , disconnect and measure resistance of same
calc current
I can bet that they're in range of 100uA to 1mA for full lean
then just boast for Westons of same current range and same needle , dismantle them and mount instead of originals

1ma full scale.
#1 failure, other than shipping damage being tiny insects taking up residency in the meter movements.
With a strong lamp and good eyes you can oft see evidence through the meter window. Eviction of same, taking tooth picks, swabs and a very steady hand.
In some climates a charge of static on the meter window is enough to grab onto the meter wand with a death grip. Wiping the window with a soft water damp cloth is a quick temporary fix. Wiping with anti-static cloth a little longer fix.

I'm certain that Kent ( Kente@passlabs.com ) will be able to assist you
as we still use these meters, not having experienced quite that much trouble.

Thanks Mr. Pass-I will call Kent next week. I just hate to ask my wife to lift these amps again and move them to my work bench. Just kidding--the tag on the XA100.5 says they were reconditioned by the factory so they have made the UPS rounds enough-thanks for the support. dave
