Hello all,
I am in the process of putting together my EL34SET. I have been trying to find some Belden Shielded Twisted Pair wire for my DC heater wiring. I checked out Mouser and their only see in bulk: minimum amount is somewhere between 100 to 200 dollars for 100ft or so. Angela and Vintage tube audio dont seem to have them either. So where online can I buy some good quality STP wire for around 20 to 30 dollars? I just need about 15ft or so. Thanks🙂

I assume you mean the heavier gauge stuff, like the stuff in industrial control systems. You can buy that at an electrical supply house, the kind electricians go to. Look in your Yellow Pages.
You can buy the thin stuff at your home store as networking or telephone cable. Just ignore the extra pairs, or twist multiples in parallel.
Now comes the BUT...why STP for a DC heater? If it is DC, just take 2 lengths of hookup wire and twist them. The shield serves no purpose.

I in doubt about utility of twisted wire for DC filaments !?!
But anyway it's very easy to twist them, here's the trick :
hook the wire pair (or more) in-between a clamp and a drill's chuck.
Then use the drill !
Hope this helps.

hi guys,
I was looking for some shielded twisted pair not only for the DC heater supplies buy also for the input connections and speaker connections as well. I guess with DC heater supples I don't really need STP's but I thought I might use them as well for extra precaution!

Make your own cable. Twist your pair, then put some braid over the top. I salvage braid from video cable or multicore. If necessary, put nylon braid over the whole thing.
I bought some at the following address. Used for my heater wiring as well as my signal wiring.

Hey scott_m which one did you specifically buy from this list? Was it the the 8450 or the 8451? Also it says that the 8451 is STP but is the 8450 also STP?
EC8010 I would prefer buying them but if I don't find what I want i'll probably do it your way!

I've added him to my favorite sellers.
Ack Radio in Atlanta sells some wire by the foot.
Belden 8450 or Alpha 2460C. They also have a store in Birmingham, Alabama.

Looks good to me too.
I assume that wire is silver plated copper, not silver, at those prices? Or am I confused?
