Does anyone know where I buy new Sony CXA8038 ICs at a reasonable price? This is a SMPS resonant mode controller IC. It's for a repair. If it were for a new project, I would choose a Fairchild or TI controller!
I have searched google. Also searched Ebay and found some either sourced from China/HK (don't trust they are legit and prefer not to wait to find out) or they're relatively expensive.

An eBay seller with a good rating gives you some confidence. You can google their name and see if anything bad shows up.
Does that chip show up on the parts list of something common that you could buy boards from on eBay?
