Mine would have to be the 8 track player I got!!!!

Im listening to my WHOS NEXT tape right now (The who) -- Sounds beautiful!! (Just about as good as my decca record of this album (W/o the surface noise))

I LOVE ANALOG SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!

An 8 track player? Wow, talk about raising the dead! I had a couple of those abysmal things back in the 60's, first one was a Lear Jet that ate tape on a regular basis. The replacement player was a Craig (I think) that the sales guy assured me would be much kinder to my tapes, it was worse. I was one of the many unhappy contributors to roadway tape-streamer art that was on display everywhere back in the day. After that foray into disappointment, I got a cassette deck and never looked back (until CD's came along.)

Spent many a happy hour rewinding on tape that had come out.
Spent many a happy hour setting the tape head height for different tapes.

Great sound though when it worked.

You want us to believe that you have an 8 track tape that has survived since the 70's? The splice made with the metallic tape that triggers the track change failed in all of mine by about 1975!

I streamed many a tape out the window on my 30 mile commute back then. Remember the sliding floor mount that allowed removal of the tape player so you could lock it in the trunk? It also allowed you to toss the entire 8 track deck out the window at speed!

The replacement player was a Craig

I was a Craig Pioneer authorized warrantee guy in 1971 and 1972. They, and Tenna Rangers (remember Mindblower Speakers?) were better than the average junk in that time frame. Craig was an importer / marketing company, and I have no idea who built the pre -"Pioneer" units. Their $250 4 function calculator was built by TI.

In 1973 I got a job at Motorola and bought a shiny new Motorola Quadraphonic 8 track player in the company store, and retired the 2 year old Craig Quad unit. Within a few months the Motorola met the concrete median on the Palmetto Expressway at about 70 MPH (that POS never worked right), and the Craig took back its spot in my car. It lived on until I got a 70's shaggmobile van in about 1975. I put a Fisher 601 home stereo in it with a Nakamichi cassette player......no more 8 tracks.

Christmas? This year we spent too much $$$$ buying stuff for the grandkids, so we didn't buy each other much, just some of the Walmart thanksgiving day, and black Friday bait like a $59 mountain bike, and a $150 TV that is now my computer monitor.
