What’s this cabinet design called?

Frankly, as a total ignorant in that matter, I must say that most designs appear to be the fruits of a long history of trials and errors.

At least, people seem to measure the output now to verify their grand schemes, but I wonder how much computer modeling happens around cabinet design.

Rick, more likely to be machined by CNC routers, or more recently 3D printers. While of course the advantages of the latter is highly efficacious material usage and the complexity of fabrications possible, an acoustically bad design will always be exactly that.
CNC routers & 3D printers??? Many fellows here need to retreat from the "land-o-plenty" thinking that is the "First World Effect"...I'd bet in the capital of my adopted country of Argentina there exists less than three 3D printers in total.

If doing it with a jig saw, why wouldn't you make the pieces random to interrupt the smoothness of it?
