What’s the name of this old power socket on Ferrograph 4A?

I’ve checked how it’s wired up, and it’s earth, live and neutral just like a modern plug. So seems safe.

Just wondering how I can plug it in to try it out.

You need a matching, vintage Bulgin power plug.

Yes it’s the 22mm one for people wondering what plug the Ferrograph Series 4A needs .

is the plug needed for the Ferrograph definitely wired as shown in your photo?

I've looked elsewhere and it's sometimes shown the other way round, with the live to the right of the notch and neutral to the left, when looking at the front of the plug

My Ferrograph is an F307 but i assume the Bulgin socket is wired the same?

original power lead has got lost and i have an unwired Bulgin plug and want to get it the right way round!

I've just seen your post, Jim!

There is known to be an error in some images of the 5A Bulgin plug, and the image I attach is said to be the correct one.

It's a while since I wired a Bulgin mains plug and it probably didn't matter which way round L and N was on my particular item(s) of equipment!

But you should carefully check for yourself by looking at the terminals at the rear of the Bulgin socket on your Ferrograph.

It should be marked with E, L & N legends and, if not, refer to the one in my second attachment.

Note the matching of the pins.
