"I'm not sure what is the greater abomination"
Watching Hollywood's version instead of the original anime!

I’m reading the ‘Riverworld’ series of books by Philip Jose Farmer at the moment, which I first read back in the eighties. Fantastic book by the way. I saw that there was a film based on the book that was available on YouTube. I got through about 3 minutes of it. What a load of bollocks. A pathetic attempt at ever level.
If ever there was a film that needs £500,000,000 spent on it to do the book justice.

"A Man to Remember" -- 1938 with Clyde Ellis -- taped via TCM. Mankiewicz mentions that the film is all but forgotten and the print that TCM aired had Dutch sub-titles. It received a NY Film Critics award. There is only ONE print of the film and it is archived in Holland.
I was shocked when I found out that for the anniversary release of "To Kill a Mockingbird" they had to recover one reel from the warehouse of some theater. There are too many lost films.
I watched the film Lost Girls and Love Hotels directed by William Olsson. The ending is not quite clear. Why the little fingers of the Yakuza were cut off on different hands in different frames. Were they different people and different stories with another girl who disappeared in a criminal way? The film is not bad, but the ending is a little crumpled.
Last movie I watched was 'cineworld gone bust' finally a film about a cinema chain gone bust. I'm waiting for next movie "imax liemax gone bust".

Someone mentioned Akiro Kurosawa and it made me remember this artwork, so I looked for the DVD and watched it again.
In this case the director is Korean,
Kim Ki-duk.
Incredible images and great sound despite the years that have passed.

We also have a similar film with black humor about gangsters of the 90s - the dead. Filmed by the cult director Alexei Balabanov. The film was filmed in Nizhny Novgorod, for the reliability of filming, all cars produced after 1995 were removed from the streets. Один момент...Try "Fudoh" for some Japanese fun.
Last Christmas (2019) directed by Paul Fig and written by Briony Kimmings and Emma Thompson - is a great movie.
"Shoot the Piano Player" -- Aznavour with Director Truffaut -- one of my faves -- new print via Criterion.
"Last Christmas" was one of those slow burners that ran for months:

Mightily funny London movie. Of course an old plot. Essentially a Ghost movie. I knew I'd be blubbing by the end of it. And so it was. 😱
I am a great fan of Francois Truffaut too. Shoot The Piano Player - Francois Truffaut - Trailer - YouTube.
Nobody does Movies better than the French. An hommage to Noir. What I like about French movies is they never overdo interior scenes. It's always quite tawdry and down to Earth. No glamour there. 😀

I am probably an incredably unbiased judge of the Universe.
But if I was to appoint a Communications Officer, it would probably be Star Trek's Uhura. (Which, AFAIK, means Freedom in Swahili).
Tv’s First Interracial Kiss Launched a Lifelong Career in Activism
I never noticed that Uhura had dark skin. What I noticed was she was a beautiful woman. I think she married Scottie in the end. 😀

Nimoy and Shatner couldn't sing for S***! 😱
But I bet Nichelle Nichols could knock out a good Jazz number.

I actually watched the Duke Ellington Orchestra back in the Seventies. Hammersmith Odeon IIRC. One of the best nights of my life. Cleo Lane turned up and sang Skat.
Scott, you are sitting on Treasure. We want to hear this.
