Watched ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ last night........
Wow!..........’Avatar’ multiplied by ‘Star Wars’ and then some. Astonishing visual feast.

was there a storyline worth or capable of being followed?
Being a bit of a MCU fanboy, I'm rather looking forward to Black Panther - took a while for this one to see the light of day.

Yes of course but it’s not the key feature of the film.........it’s a real mixed bag and only let down by the opening sequence soundtrack being David Bowies ‘Major Tom’ or whatever it’s called. One cannot imagine a more cliched use of a piece of music.....utterly stupid choice.
Sure you can pick it pieces but that’s true with most films. Just let it wash over you and enjoy it.

Wonder Woman - a bit too much Zach Snyder for my taste, and just once it'd be nice to see a "SuperHero" flick that held at least minimal regard for the laws of physics and the frailty of human flesh.
speaking of flesh, though .....

Two of note -- it's "31 Days of Oscars" on TCM:
"San Francisco" with Clark Gable, Jeanette MacDonald and Spencer Tracy. Highly recommend. (1936)
"Grand Prix" with James Garner, Toshiro Mifune, etc. 1966.

Elephants can remember, Agatha Cristie Hercule Poirot.
Human beings can forget.
Sound is bad, otherwise excellent movies!

The Pirates of Somalia. Enjoyable but pedestrian. Gave me a slightly better perspective on a "shithole" country.
Had a case of insomnia last night, so stumbled across "Predators" on one of the movie channels. I could bitch about the time I'll never get back, but I could have changed to something else, and it was cozy in the Lazy Boy under that comforter.
So far the critics are quite loving "Black Panther" - the trailer I watched at "Shape of Water" was very colourful, and it could make for some very interesting opening weekend box-office.

I watched ‘Atomic Blonde’ last night......good film. Quite violent and the fight scenes were some of the best I’ve seen in a movie. Of course having Charlize Theron semi nude helps.
Saw THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES. I enjoyed it...though I'm not too sure what the story was about apart from just being a story.
“Cure for Wellness” ... maybe just me, but creepy on so many levels. Of course sometimes you just can’t help yourself, and stick it out to the end only to abruptly hit that WTF? ending.
Dude; Does watching a movie on VHS really count?
Sure.
VHS is the record equivalent.
Good ole analog.
