Hi Viet,
I'm surprised nobody has asked (if they have, then I wasn't paying attention) - RTR phono preamp, maybe?

Hi Folks,
I have been away on work trip to Toulouse for past week so no stuff on the bench as of late. Beautiful city, wonderful people and great food. I’m back now and looking forward so quality time on the bench again.
If you look closely at the last photo, you can see the dozen police vans (and paramilitary police in full riot gear and armed with machine guns) preparing for a protest at the city square. I steered clear of the area once I saw what was about to happen. Luckily, the protest never got out of hand and was peaceful.

I was in Dublin, fun city, history, pubs, music...

Great pics X. The light is special there. I've only been in Europe once; spent a week on the Amalfi coast and could have stayed forever.
Hi Bonjonno,
I had early morning light and no people and no wind so the Garanne River was calm and flat. Other photos at dusk / early evening. I have also been near Amalfi Coast in Naples for a week. About 27 years ago now. How time flies.

On the bench tonight is a new crossover from scratch for the XSA TL. On the 4th iteration and the voicing is finally right. Wow, what a difference a few small tweaks make. External XO with Wago connectors is the only way to go before soldering up a crossover internally.
Hi Viet,
I'm surprised nobody has asked (if they have, then I wasn't paying attention) - RTR phono preamp, maybe?![]()
I don’t think we can make a DIY RTR phono preamp just yet.
Just finished up an Omicron board tonight, my 2nd SMD board, pleased with the results. Testing is still a bit out, waiting for the chassis to arrive.
Guys How many of u want Vinyl Player in your pocket?
I almost reinvented a new tape format called HiSpeed Cassette
I thought of this idea , it seems it already done.
Tascam Porta Studio uses 3.75IPS speed
Since already , Dr.Boris Ribov, ANT Audio and Dual Did it
https://lab2104.tu-plovdiv.bg/
http://www.ant-audio.co.uk/ [Scroll down u will find sample]
Dual C844:
It's like hearing CD with bit of hiss.
It's Cassette @3.75IPS [No Hiss even with Type I tape] , it will use 50us Time-constant for Type I tape and 35us for Type II/IV
U can modify existing deck for it , i am going to modify a Yamaha KX930.
One of my friend already did it, if u want u can send me a PM i will send you file, it can make Studer A810 in 71/2IPS cry with Type I Tape , at 65DBA DNR,
for a Moving Coil Cartridge is 54 to 60db even one with $1000 Price tag. If you can have high end Cartridge over $2K they can do 70+dba how many of us can afford it?
Imagine a walkman with that kind of specs , even 60dba
" No Hiss Pure Analog Bliss"
Their hiss but you need to desire to hear it to hear it.
R2R Deck like Studer can eat VHS or Cassette but problem is R2R Tape themselves are 23dba more noise than
head itself in 15IPS. R2R Speed with VHS Hifi like Head with Noise level of tape like Type II tape can give theoretically 120dba+
but that a different theoretical conversion we can have latter.
Problem with Cassette are mainly due to Speed,
at 3.75IPS
Their will be almost no tape hiss , Type I tape will destroy Metal tape @ Normal Speed
Their will no Azimuth Related Issues as we current Equalization scheme Frequency will be Flat over 40Khz
Their will no need of Noise Reduction unless you want Raw Number on Spec Sheet.
Down Side:
Play Time will half C-90 and need very high BIAS Frequency [ 180Khz and Higher]
Problem with Cassette was it was never meant for AUdio it was designed for Speech Recording , later Phillips didnt bother to change standard instead pushed for it hoping CD will be released soon anyway that didnt happen. Dolby B and Type II tape pushed it to HiFi , should applaud engineers for pushing a medium with Physical Limitation , dont Forget Dolby S or DBX those can make CD Cry.
Here is song recorded in Portastudio
Cassette at that speed become Mastering Device forget Hiss and LoFi nonsense
