I use Verizon Fios - the lowest tier (migation from DSL in 2017) service, and just as cheap.
But now, for some reason I've got blazing fast speeds!
(I did several "online speed tests" to confirm this)
I didn't upgrade anything, nor will I pay for something I didn't order.
Anybody got any ideas?

I guess they upgraded you? Either that or you've stolen the neighbour's wifi / using 4G [emoji1787]
I run this desktop PC from the Verizon router.
I also never received any documentation/email/etc about an upgrade.
Bizzare.

I got Jersey Bell DSL in 2001 at 5MBPS, and by 2008 it had silently gone up to 50MBPS. They don't always tell you. They can't honestly raise your rate for unrequested speed.
Everybody is watching pornoXXXX "Working from home" this month, and some residential ISPs are adjusting speeds/quotas so the kiddies don't run out of Trolls or Kung Fu Panda and annoy the household bill-payer.

Back in 2017, I was "forced" to migrate to Fios fiber optic from DSL, which I was happy with for years.
Verizon kept sending me threatening letters for two years that said "we're cutting copper wire service in your area" - you won't have landline service - UNLESS...you switch over.
I didn't like the tone of those letters, being it seems everything these days is based on "fear" and "dependency".
My reliable DSL was a "$14.99 for LIFE" arrangement - 768Kb speed - fine for me.
So the day came for me to decide - again, by force.
I had to run a whole new cable (cat5 ethernet) to my home office, a real pain going through a brick double-layer wall and fishing that line up 2 floors from the basement.
The box they brought was installed, I was up and running - again.
Phone lines also had to be modified - I got 6 phones in the house.
No Fios TV service needed - I use OTA digital with 60+ channels via roof antenna.
I don't watch more than 5 or 6 of them, I'm not glued to the TV.
But ordering the original "budget service, a "migration" service of 3/1Mbps (actually 5/2) - they tried to rip me off.
Basic landline phone + internet they quoted me $106/month!
WHAT!
I said "Who you foolin?"
When their TV advertising, AND mailed to me ads, clearly stated "TV, Phone, And 50Mbps internet for ONLY $69.95!
Guess what, I locked them into the 3/1 service for my old DSL price of $14.99!
You gotta watch these buggers these days.
