No, you're way off. I am active as both an educator and professional in the USA with still some time until I retire. Part of my professional activities includes consulting services to a company that has some brand recognition in some circles. I never made claims about having contacts in the industry or having more privilege than many people here. In fact, the whole point of the thread was to see if those with more privilege than I had information that was relevant to what I was working on. I contacted TI using the same channels open to everyone and reported those results in post #71.Accepted, my memory was that you were a semi retired professional in the audio component business, and you were thinking of making equipment in the USA, IIRC.
As a consultant, the actual work would be done by others.
I have not gone and read the thread again.
And your tone changed after I accused you, and asked you to use your contacts within the industry to find out the position, as to production of the chips.
Since then, the question has been hanging in the air, and the situation is still officially unclear.
In view of your status, and contacts, please update us.
Your hazy recollections and suppositions have real consequences for this community and those you approach with suspicion. Please, be more responsible with what you post.
Everyone else, I'm sorry for this digression. I don't plan to say more about this here so we can concentrate on the topic.
That thread is done with, and the conclusion from TI's silence is a little, shall we say, unclear?
The clear part is lack of new production, and the unclear part is that they are not saying if and when they will make a batch. Nor are they saying end of life / last batch...
Better to move on...with a transistor based design, the 3886 can be relegated to the shelves of history, along with most Class AB chip amps from major makers.
The Chinese are smiling, and still making chips long out of production at major makers.

I just checked the TI web store and they have some in stock (400+), but are limiting purchase quantities to 10 pieces.

personally I am guessing some kind of personality or OCD type problem with a certain Forum member I won´t name who simply HAS to post "something, "anything", no matter what, even if irrelevant, unfounded or even against his own interest.
Not sure why some dissing/unfair posts are still here, you might ask Moderators for removal, I suggested a couple way back then, they won´t act on their own.
Maybe you should keep quite instead of plethora of unhelpful chatterMaybe somebody should ask TI for a plain answer, not in lawyer speak.
Their reply should be infornative.
That's what ignore button is for...some members here go for 'the highest number of useless post' award.
Good...
Go do your work yourself, be self sufficient.
3886, original, $10 each, small quantity, PM me.
7294, original, $4 each, small quantity, PM me.
Shipping, packing, duties, bank charges etc. will be extra at actual cost.
Limited stock with a merchant here in Baroda.
Replacement of this stock will be at a new price, so that will be different from above.

Btw, there are two identical threads going on...
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/lm3886-availability.376520/page-7#post-7050389
Mods, perhaps they can be merged for even more confusion.

I asked him only today, seeing the frantic mood here.
7294 sells more here.
He said he will check in storage for 3886 stock, hardly sells except as repair part. It is an oddity here.

Sadly, it is so flawed that it is counterproductive. That's what ignore button is for...

Do you have what you are offering or it´s just another reference to mystery sellers?
The local merchant here, is a 'he', his name is Rahul, he exists.
That was mentioned above.
I repeat here:
'Limited stock with a merchant here in Baroda.'
Also , I said his stock is in a storage area, if asked, he will tell me how many are there, as it sells only occasionally.
He is a third generation trader, well known here, but not interested in selling out of town.
His grandfather started the business about 50 years back, and if you wanted Philips transistor radio IFTs, for 20 year old models, they would say 'how many?'
The actual shipment will have to be handled by me, and it will be only a few pieces.
They are in plastic encapsulation, if it is relevant.
