I have decided what to do for my home theater system. I am going to buy a Sony center channel and rears and build my own towers with help from my father. I was thinking of using two 6.5” woofers rated at 80 watts RMS or one 8” woofer rated at 120 watts (per speaker) both run at 8 ohms. Both have rubber surrounds and aluminum cones. Which one would you rather have in your system? What size port should I use? The price is the same for both. This is going to be paired with a 3.75 inch horn tweeter and a 5 inch midwoofer hooked up to a 3-way crossover.
If you are going to build towers for fronts, think about banging together your centre also, using idetical drivers. xover..... this way the sound across the front 3 spkrs will be uniform, which is important in HT.....
