In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today
In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you
In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

Read an interesting article: assume all medical issues are solvable and nobody dies of illness or old age problems. You keep the mind and body of, say, a 30yr old, indefinitely.
How long would you live then? The surprising answer came from life insurance actuarials: about 3000 years. That is the average life expectancy in our part of the world, based on only accidents, suicide, murders, that sort of thing.
7 people die a year trying to put their socks on whilst going down stairs.
That was the oddest consideration from an actuarial mathematican I used to snowboard with 😀
So I would pick a country without the need for socks..
In 3,000 years this style of moustache will be back.
I'm sure the mohawk and mullet will have become high fashion again..
Seems about 20-30 year cycle for most mainstream fashion as the generation gap allows people to be familiar but to have moved away from the unfashionable parents generation but their foggy recollection of grandad sporting one in their youth is fashionable..
In 3000 years, I suspect I would be in control of large swathes of empire and Bozos' fortune would simply be my slush fund. All Hail the Emperor of the known Universe. 😀 (I can't decide if this should be Dune style or Flash Gordon...)
Sometimes a limited lifespan would be good.. but I would be focused on making some serious advancements to get off the planet..

Yes, of course!
Professional help was the only advice to consume more and more Xanax.
But that can't resolve problems.
Also, there will be no less lie because of this.
If you start using good old logic, you will get to the bottom of your problems and likely solve these. Complex problems involve complex solutions.

“The planet has been telling us to leave for the las 50 years but nobody’s been listening”. In 3000 it is going to be shouting from the mountaintop - even if everyone were to go green eat dirt and live in little cubbyholes. Climate change may slow, but natural phenomena will continue to occur and eventually become dominant. The planet ultimately will have an expiration date - and one would hope that something is done before all that is left is a downloadable archive (anyone remember ST:TNG “The Inner Light”?) Asteroids the size of Texas, the sun collapsing, and such are all mathematical certainties, as is *running out of oil*. Integrate the probability density function from T=0 to infinity….. You can only continue to spin the Dabo wheel so long.
The natural tendency is that you would, given the time, become rich having paid off properties etc. Tax efficiency then becomes easier and so would “disappearing” from view to hide the 3000 years
Id also embed myself in agriculture given the cost of food production will provide a power, along with investment wealth, to undermine governments.
Only need to look at Brexit to understand what short term stupidity looks like.

Whoa! You mix short term (a century or so) with long term (a few billion years or so) together. Not sure that will be relevant.

I thought the question is if the whole humanity lived to 3000 via advanced medical technology to solve our physical decay. The natural tendency is that you would, given the time, become rich having paid off properties etc. Tax efficiency then becomes easier and so would “disappearing” from view to hide the 3000 years

Bill Gates is doing that but that would likely not apply anymore if the above condition is in place.Id also embed myself in agriculture given the cost of food production will provide a power, along with investment wealth, to undermine governments.
The question is, what would you do if you lived to 3000?

Actually, this is exactly the kind of question that should occur to us who have betrayed our responsibility to take care of our charge, namely this planet and it's well being. Is it really any wonder why the very things we contemplate revolve around ways to escape the consequences of our greed?
It's not gonna happen folks, we're going to be held to account.
Nobody's stayin and nobody's leavin. 😎

The irony is, if we live thousands of years we will end up taking better care of the planet, out of self interest. With current life spans we’re not thinking about the planet for the first and last decades which leaves is with 50 years during which time we have other priorities like raising kids etc. and it’s just easier to leave the chore for somebody else. But with 3,000 years you get to experience the impact of letting things get out of hand and so you change your ways.
With 3,000 years you live long enough that you can ‘afford’ to use up 50 of them travelling to settle a new planet around a different star system too. The consequence of a longer lifespan maybe to enable humans to spread far and wide. Realistic space travel maybe ‘unlocked’ by longevity.

Even if you do find and land on another rock, do you realize that your remaining long life will be miserable? Unless that rock is exactly the same size, surface temperature, night / day duration and atmosphere as this rock, which is highly unlikely, you will have to live in a literal bubble for the remaining life. You may end up developing a new form of physical decay that's not curable.Working on a way to get off this rock.

Well, some of the surface temperatures on our rock are not that satisfactory, depending where you live.
Here's a mock-up, to show it is not all vaporware 😎 Jan
A quiet differential probe for less than a zillion dollars will be a boon to mankind. Especially a reliable one made by friends!
