What type of valve is this?

I dont think its a 6L6, but its construction looks identical inside, right down to the micas, only difference is a bigger envelope.
I put it in my tester as a 6l6 but was shorting and sounded like arcing in the socket as I inserted it.

Any ideas?

Problem is I don't know what settings to set the dials on this tester to rewire the socket. I could make an adapter I guess.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. After confirming, as JHS says, that it's a 7027A, it tests like a 6L6. You're lucky to find these because geetah pickers have burned up almost all of them, making remaining American survivors valuable. How else ya gonna sound like Jimi?

YOS,

Can you test for continuity? Pins 2 and 7 are the heater in a 7AC socket. If good (less than an ohm), test as for a 6L6. Then, if G1 and G2 are duplicated, continuity tests as posted above, it's a 7027A (fancy version of 6L6). Done.

Check the pinout with an ohmmeter. If 1 & 4 are connected & 5 & 6 are connected you have a 7027. Otherwise that's not the answer. Gotta keep looking.

Just checked, and I can confirm this is the case.

Yup, definitely the case, heater measures close to 2 ohms.

Some difference. Check for yourself.

Yes looks like there is some difference with the grid going to ground.
I dont know if the wiring for the tester is arranged differently for a 6L6, but it appeared to short when inserting it into the socket, i could hear it arcing.
