I have access to a free classroom screen that is labled as a Da-Lite Deluxe Model B. My question is how can you tell what type of surface it is (glass bead, etc.)? Up close the screen is grey and seems to have faint verticle lines on it that you would not notice from about 4'. I've read that a matt grey colour is better for the contrast ratio's from LCD Panels, will this do the trick??

thanks...
Well, I've looked all over the net and nowhere does it describe what the various surfaces look like. The screen that I have is kind of a reflective silver (not really grey like I thought from glancing at it). I'm just trying to figure out which type of surface it is (definately not matt white).

Yeah, no kidding. But what do glass beaded, video spectra and high power screens actually LOOK like? I got a screen and am trying to determine what type it is.....

I hate it when i have to go to another forum (avs) in order to find out stuff that is not discussed inhere.....
they are all getting wild about painting the black out cloth with gesso with or withoud magesium and other by products, or just some super bright painted with magesium already in it.
theey all claim that it is much brighter and more contrast is reached....
i guess i should go that way, alltough i have seen a screen treated with gesso and it did not overwhelm me.
