i just wanted to see what the most common type of lens people use is? im assuming its the triplet, but was wondering what the ideal size is? 80mm? also does anybody use meniscus lenses?
thanks
thanks
The size depends on the LCD your using. Search the forum and you'll find all the answers you need.
A triplet is definitely better than a doublet or a meniscus. The meniscus lenses simply cannot focus the entire image. Both that and the doublet lenses will only focus the center part or the outer part of the image, but never both at the same time. This isn't as obvious with the doublet lenses, but it definitely isn't a consideration with the triplet lenses - 100% focused screen. I upgraded from a doublet to the triplet just for the heck of it (didn't really think that my doublet was that bad to begin with) and was really impressed at how much of a difference the triplet made. It was definitely more pleasing to watch with the newer lens.
As for the ideal size, that sort of depends on the light source that you are using and how well you have positioned your fresnel lens, but I'd say that you shouldn't really go any smaller than 70mm if you can help it. The larger the lens is, the better (that's a very general rule). Just make sure you don't go to one of those DeltaIV or Fujinon lenses - those are made for very small LCD panels (<5") and won't really work with projection panels at all even though they do have a much larger diameter.

I will use a Fresnel lens and simple glass magnifier for my project. I have tried this things with some test equipments and I' m very satisfied with the results.
