There's a great video on YouTube somewhere of a guy trying to use an enormous power transformer for a meager SE project, and the transformer saturated with very little DC current. These are a terrible choice for SE use, and I'd suggest measuring FR with what you have built. You may find that "such great bass" is a qualitative description of poor frequency response.
